Commerce Editorial Intern

Together, the two sites reach over 650 million people every month across all platforms and have more than 100 people working in both our sunny NYC office and around the US. 

The Commerce Editorial intern will play a key role in generating affiliate revenue for Apartment Therapy Media. The ideal candidate will be available to work 15 to 20 hours per week; have an interest in creating shoppable editorial content focused on the home and kitchen; have a deep knowledge of brands, retailers, and products; is a multitasker with strong organizational skills; and is passionate about the digital media industry. Our office is based in New York City. 

 

Responsibilities include:

  •  Support Apartment Therapy’s Commerce Editor in creating the Best List, Apartment Therapy’s product review franchise.
  • Write engaging, product-focused posts and roundups for Apartment Therapy and Kitchn.
  • Research products across several categories to include in articles, from food to tech to lifestyle and beyond.
  • Ensure that editorial posts are optimized for commerce.
  • Generate new content ideas based on revenue reporting and traffic performance.
  • Assist in managing editorial calendars.
  • Assist in creating Retail Therapy and Cook/Shop newsletters. 

 Preferred qualifications:

  • Strong writing skills and prior editorial experience
  • Retail or e-commerce experience
  • Interest in the home decor and kitchen space
  • Familiarity with best SEO practices
  • Working knowledge of WordPress
  • Strong attention to detail and superb organizational skills 
  • Strong, distinctive voice, with an ability to engage our audience
  • A sense of humor, with awareness of current events, trends, and lifestyle topics
  • A cheerful, enthusiastic work ethic
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, and to adjust strategy and execution in the face of new information
  • Experience with Google Analytics or Parse.ly
  • Experience with Photoshop
  • Priority will be given to New York City-based applicants
