Instagram Manager

Apartment Therapy Media is looking for an Instagram Manager to join our Audience Development team here in our sunny, Soho office! The Instagram Manager will be responsible for the strategy and posting for Apartment Therapy’s and Kitchn’s Instagram accounts, including @apartmenttherapy, @thekitchn, @iplanteven and future offshoot accounts. S/he will be responsible for increasing and engaging the audience on Instagram, as well as increasing referral traffic from Instagram. The ideal candidate will be fluent in Instagram optimization and have an innate ability to identify and adapt to trends, as well as the ability to work independently and take initiative without waiting for instructions.

The Instagram Manager will set the direction of our brands on Instagram and work with the editorial, video and art teams to optimize the content they produce. This a deeply integrated position that will require collaboration with the product and sales departments in addition to the content team. The Instagram Manager will provide feedback on editorial and branded campaigns, and will be responsible at times for managing interns.

The Instagram Manager will constantly be on the lookout for ways to elevate our brands on Instagram through new initiatives and will actively pursue and coordinate collaborations with influencers. In addition, the Instagram Manager will seek opportunities for new Instagram accounts for both brands.

Applicants should have a passion for great content and storytelling, and an interest in lifestyle, food, design and wellness. A knack for writing compelling copy as well as unearthing and acting on trends in data will be key. The position will be part of the audience development team.


  • Distribute and optimize content on Instagram.
  • Effectively translate data into understandable and actionable insights to drive strategy.
  • Engage with Instagram followers
  • Increase referral traffic to Apartment Therapy and Kitchn through Instagram, as well increase audience size
  • Help strategize and brainstorm future content and social initiatives
  • Create daily, weekly and monthly reports tracking and analyzing social performance
  • Manage interns


  • 2-5 years of experience in publishing or Instagram marketing
  • Active personal participation in social media, including but not limited to Instagram
  • Insight into how social platforms operate and create engagement
  • Analytically-driven to use data to create meaningful insights
  • Detail-oriented in writing, communication, and organization
  • Strong, distinctive voice, with an ability to engage Apartment Therapy’s audience
  • A sense of humor, with awareness of current events, trends, and food topics
  • A cheerful, enthusiastic work ethic
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, and to adjust strategy and execution in the face of new information
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Omniture or
  • Priority will be given to New York City-based applicants
