Chief Content Director


Apartment Therapy Media is looking for a dynamic, experienced leader with a proven track record for shaping vibrant brands, expanding their audiences and elevating their position as leaders in their field.

This individual will be skilled at conceptualizing and launching new editorial products. They will know how to adapt dynamic content across platforms, embracing data and insights to inform and improve editorial planning and production. And they will have strong leadership skills, able to manage direct and indirect reports and liaise across all departments.



  • The Chief Content Director is responsible for all editorial operations and accountable for the creation and execution of content standards across the company, to include brand tone, voice, quality, quantity and creative direction.
  • Working with Editors, help create brand voice and vision for the editorial products that ensures their growth and evolution as authoritative voices in the food and shelter spaces
  • Working with the editors, cultivate a fast-moving, responsive, newsroom-like culture across the editorial teams
  • Direct the effort to engage sales, audience development and the product team in content planning
  • Lead the charge to integrate the art department into all content planning
  • Help lead the expansion of the editorial products into new content verticals
  • Direct the strategy for audience growth across segments and personas
  • Oversee the editorial teams, helping them set and achieve their goals
  • Direct and oversee the art department, its team and the photo studio, ensuring all content supports brand vision
  • Develop and oversee an efficient plan for creating content within the art department and photo studio
  • Lead the goal to create style guides for each editorial brand
  • Partner with sales and creative services to create concepts that help them achieve their goals, and content that promotes growth and increases revenue
  • Partner with audience development to develop a reader- and data-informed content strategy across platforms
  • Partner with the product team to conceptualize and deliver products that improve reader experience and serve as incentives for sales and creative services



  • At least 10 years of digital editorial management experience
  • Strong affinity for/experience within the shelter and food categories
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing brands with growing audiences across platforms
  • Experience conceptualizing and launching new editorial products
  • Superior people management skills; high-functioning collaboration skills; strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and to change direction quickly
  • An expansive network of contacts in the lifestyle space
